Why the Mama Experience?
Birth stories are so unique and personal, yet there is a unifying, collective power to them. The beautiful, the terrifying, the shocking, the heartbreak, the depth - the full human range often occurs in each of our birth stories, but they are so infrequently spoken out loud.
The entire evolution that occurs between the final days of being pregnant and the first days after birth are deeply soul shifting, yet there is little to no time and space to reflect and respond to such an experience after it occurs. Often, we find ourselves skimming the surface of the details when recounting in the days after delivery. Soon, the details become faded and we are fully immersed in the here and now.
We wanted to create that space - a space where women could come and share their story. Where the mind has the chance to recall what the body remembers. A space where we can hear and honor and hold space for the stories and experiences of others. Motherhood is a collective power and our birth stories deserve to be shared.
